Dutch policeman shoots to stop bar argument

A police officer called in to a bar to stop two men from arguing had to shoot one of them as he was holding a knife.

THE NETHERLANDS - A police officer in the Zeeland village of Renesse was forced to use his gun on Saturday night.

Police were called to a bar where two men were arguing. When the police arrived, one of the man involved in the argument pulled a knife. Police say that the situation became so dangerous that an officer was forced to shoot the knife wielder in the leg to immobilise him.

After both men were arrested, the wounded one was taken to hospital.
