THE NETHERLANDS - In their annual report for 2007, Dutch police say their response to public phone calls is still inadequate.

The report notes that there has been some improvement, but on average it still takes too long before the general information number is answered.

The police want 80 percent of all calls to be answered within 20 seconds. Over half of all police forces failed to meet this performance target.

Response time for the 112 emergency number is up to standard, with 90 percent of calls answered within 10 seconds.
