Dutch ministry moves to stifle outcry

The Security Ministry has put forward four candidates for the job of interim police chief for the province of Flevoland.

On Saturday, Annemarie Jorritsma, mayor of Flevoland’s biggest city, Almere, announced plans to install an ‘interim advisor’ to take over the post at a salary of 1,600 euros per day. She claimed there was no suitable candidate for the position which became vacant on 1 April.

Her announcement caused an outcry and was fiercely criticised by other politicians. The security ministry’s latest move is designed to scupper .
