THE NETHERLANDS - According to recently published figures by Statistics Netherlands, the Dutch have grown increasingly sceptical about Europe since the beginning of the 1990s.

In the 1990s, a majority supported a more integrated Europe but the figures dropped to 26 percent in 2006. Fifty percent of voters were against any further unification of the EU.

Figures also show that voters in the 18 to 25 age group are more Europe-minded, with 68 percent saying they are positive about the EU.
