The NETHERLANDS - A large majority of Dutch expatriates is proud of the Dutch football team according to a poll held by Radio Netherlands Worldwide.

Eighty-five percent of the expats think the team contributes to the positive image of the Netherlands. A quarter of them believe participation in the European Championships is "good for exports". Three quarters say people regularly talk to them about Dutch football.

Johan Cruijff is still the Netherlands' most famous footballer, although expats say they are regularly asked about Marco van Basten and Ruud van Nistelrooij.

More than a third of the emigrants asked said they miss the "orange fever" atmosphere during international competitions; 30 percent miss the Dutch commentary during matches.

Although 15 percent expect the Netherlands to become European Champions, the favourite among expats is Italy.
