Dutch economy shrinks 0.6 percent

The Dutch economy shrank 0.6 percent in the fourth quarter of last year compared to the same period in 2010.

The latest figures published by Netherlands Statistics on Tuesday in its second estimate for the fourth quarter of 2011 show the economy shrank 0.1 percent less than predicted in its first estimate published on 15 February.

On the production side of the economy, the added value of the extraction of minerals, industry, the building sector and the services sector were adjusted slightly upward.

However, the added value of financial institutions and housing services were adjusted downward.
