THE NETHERLANDS - A driver who thought he had lost his bicycle drove six kilometres along the A12 motorway against the oncoming traffic looking for it.

The 24-year old was on his way from Utrecht to The Hague when he noticed that his bicycle was no longer attached to the back of his car. So he turned round and drove back along the shoulder looking for it.

HE stopped after six kilometres when there was still not sight of his bicycle. The driver stopped the car, got out and realised he had been dragging it along the ground behind him.

The police have made an official report of the incident.
