Dutch bassoonist Bram van Sambeek has won one of four prestigious Borletti Buitoni Trust awards 2011.

The 30-year-old musician has to spend the prize money - just under 24,000 euros – on study, an instrument, recordings or other expenditure to further his international concert career. As well as being solo bassoonist with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Van Sambeek is in great demand as a chamber musician.

The Borletti Buitoni Trust stimulates the work of young professional musicians from all over the world, “supporting a family of young musicians”.
