The Netherlands’ ambassador to Iran has returned to Tehran a month after he was recalled by Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal.

Ambassador Cees Koole was recalled by The Hague on 1 December 2011 in protest at the storming by Iranian demonstrators of the British embassy in Tehran. Germany similarly recalled its ambassador to Iran and he also returned to his post on Tuesday, according to the Dutch foreign ministry.

The Dutch ambassador to Iran was also recalled early last year because of developments concerning the trial, secret execution and burial of Zahra Bahrami, a Dutch-Iranian citizen.
