THE NETHERLANDS - Dutch people living abroad are strongly divided over whether the Olympic Games should have been awarded to China.

A survey by Radio Netherlands Worldwide has revealed that 35 percent of the 900 World Panel members surveyed approve of the games going to China, while 30 percent would have preferred them to have been hosted by another country.

A large majority of those questioned also believe that human rights, the environment and freedom of the press are big problem areas in China. Yet they remain positive about the country's economic growth; 93 percent believe it's going well.
