Dutch chemicals company DSM’s quarterly profits are down to EUR 10 million from EUR 200 million in the same period last year.

The Netherlands – In the past quarter, Dutch chemicals company DSM’s profits have fallen to just EUR 10 million compared to EUR 200 million in the same period last year.

The company is suffering from the global economic recession. However, their results improved slightly compared to the first quarter. DSM said prospects remain uncertain as demand is still weak.

Analysts will look through the DSM’s quarterly figures next Tuesday, paying particular attention to those of the company’s Nutrition division. Nutrition has proved to be their stable profitable factor so far in the crisis and must continue to show stablility, analysts agree.

“Nutrition is the cork on which DSM floated the previous time,”' analyst Mark van Geert of Fortis Bank told De Telegraaf.
