Former president of American Chamber of Commerce Chris Devries dies suddenly aged 59.

AMSTERDAM - Former managing director of Citibank in Amsterdam and former President of the American Chamber of Commerce Chris Devries died unexpectedly last week at the age of 59.

In December 2006 Devries was decorated with a royal honour, as he was named to the order of Oranje-Nassau by Queen Beatrix, after a 30-year career at Citibank.

Devries also served as president of the American Chamber of Commerce, the Holland America Friendship Foundation and the Foreign Bankers Association. He will also be remembered for his efforts on behalf of intercultural organisations like Humanity in Action and the Foundation for Giving Back.
