THE NETHERLANDS - Drivers of the bus company Arriva have taken wildcat strike action in Purmerend, just north of Amsterdam, to protest against the summer roster.

The drivers blocked the entrance to the bus station with their own cars, preventing buses from leaving.

The summer roster means that drivers have shifts divided between a few hours in the morning and in the day. They also complained the timetables do not give them enough time between bus stops, which means they have to hurry to keep to the schedule.

The wildcat strike in Purmerend is not part of the pay and conditions conflict between drivers and regional bus companies.
