THE NETHERLANDS - Dutch Agriculture Minister Gerda Verburg has ordered all vehicles used for the transport of British poultry or eggs to be disinfected. She has called on the Dutch poultry sector to be extra vigilant and for private poultry keepers to vaccinate their birds.

The measures follow an outbreak of avian influenza on Tuesday at a chicken farm in Oxfordshire. The British authorities have culled the farm's poultry and imposed a transport ban.
