BREDA - Around 3,000 jazz lovers attended the opening act of the 38th Breda Jazz Festival on Thursday.

They were given a taste of a reconstruction of Benny Goodman's legendary 1938 Carnegie Hall concert.

The one-off reconstruction marks the concert's 70th anniversary and will be performed on Friday.

The Breda Jazz Festival, which will feature 180 performances in 18 different locations by musicians from across the globe, will last until Sunday.

The festival, the oldest and largest of its kind in Europe, draws a crowd of some 250,000 Jazz aficionados each year.
