THE NETHERLANDS - Radio Netherlands Worldwide journalist Abir Sarras was arrested at Tel Aviv airport on Sunday night and told that she would not be permitted to enter Israel. She will fly back to The Netherlands later on Monday.

Sarras, who is of Palestinian descent, had been planning to produce a series of reports about the Israeli state's 60-year existence. She says that she is amazed by what has happened but that otherwise she is fine.

She also says that her treatment by the airport police was "rude" and that her mobile phone was confiscated.

Palestinians can only enter Israel, according to Israeli authorities, via the border crossing between Jordan and the West Bank.

Most Palestinians may also enter Israel with special permission, something Sarras did not possess.
