Five dog handlers were sacked and three transferred for gross misconduct and neglecting their duties.

AMSTERDAM - Police authorities in Amsterdam have sacked five dog handlers and transferred three others for gross misconduct and neglecting their duties.

The offences discovered include discrimination, visiting prostitutes during working hours, improper use of police vehicles, abuse of animals and sex in the workplace.

These incidents are only the latest in a series of problems within the Amsterdam dog handler unit. Another three dog handlers had already been suspended.
