Ajax Amsterdam are still with a chance to win the national football championship. Frank de Boer’s squad secured their victory against NEC Nijmegen with difficulty, ending with a 1-2 win in the away match.

NEC led for most of the first half as Lasse Schone put their first and only goal into the net just four minutes into the game. Shortly before the end of the first half, Ajax striker Miralem Sulejmani came with the equaliser. Ajax was the stronger team in the second half. Defender Toby Alderweireld – back in action after an injury – headed the winning goal past the NEC's Jasper Cillessen.

PSV Eindhoven also had to put up a fight against Heracles Almelo but ended with a clear 2-0 win. Balázs Dzsudzsák scored the first goal on 25 minutes, while substitute Marcus Berg kicked in the second goal just minutes before the final whistle.

Heracles were one man down in the second half, when Mark-Jan Fledderus got his second yellow card ten seconds after rest time. Fred Rutten’s PSV still have one home game to play against Vitesse Arnhem and two away fixtures against Rotterdam’s Feyenoord and FC Groningen.

FC Twente have lost crucial ground in the Dutch championship when their match against De Graafschap Doetinchem ended in a disappointing 1-1 draw. Twente Enschede’s Denny Landzaat eased in the first goal of the match from a distance on 72 minutes, but De Graafschap’s Rogier Meijer dashed Twente’s chances when he scored just before the end of the game.
