100,000 mourn death of Dutch culture

More than 100,000 people turned out for Saturday's nation-wide demonstration "Holland screams for culture" in protest at government plans to cut art and culture budgets. The estimate was announced by the organisers after tallying turn-out figures in 70 towns and villages where rallies were held.

    I find it interesting that a hundred thousand folks can be mustered for this but when health insurance gets privatized - nothing. When the spoorweg is stolen by privatization carpet baggers - nothing. When hate monger and sex abusers run the gov't - nothing..

    Oh but if you touch "arts and culture" which really means - no more subsidized techno DJ's, no more 'avant garde' (on the dole) artists suddenly we can muster "100,000 people".

    Phooey - my cinical nature tells me that somebody is using their aganda against somebody else's agenda and the only one who gets screwed here is the taxpayer... the little taxpayer.

    Time to pull up the bricks and start tossing them ala the early 80's. Wake up before we find ourselves owned by our privatizing overlords like Amerika...

    Why can't they consider doing this to sports as well?
