A student who was forcibly removed from class by an interim head teacher is being sent to a different school. The incident, at a school near Utrecht, hit the headlines when the teacher was arrested after the parents filed a report with police.

After questioning, the interim head was held in a cell for three hours. Police were severely criticised for their handling of the incident. Education Minister Marja van Bijsterveldt says she wants to get to the bottom of the case.

The 13-year-old boy with learning difficulties was told about ten times to leave the classroom to cool off after a fight. His stepfather reported the incident to the police because he says his stepson was badly bruised. The boy’s new school is for children with special needs. The interim head will return to work on Monday.
