Two Dutch films win prizes

A film by actress and director Nova van Dijk has won a prize as Best Live Action Short at the International Shortfest in Palm Springs. The festival is North America's biggest short film festival according to film company Phanta Vision Film International.

The scenario  for Kattenkwaad Cat and Mice was written by the director's sister Laura van Dijk. The film is about a young thief, who steals local cats then returns them for reward money. He suspects his brutish neighbor of kidnapping a local girl, but finds that appearances can be dangerously deceptive. The prize is 2,000 US dollars.

Meanwhile children's film has won the title Gouden Film. The film by director Steven de Jong has been shown at cinemas in the Netherlands since 8 June and has sold 100,000 tickets. The Gouden Film was awarded in Amsterdam on Monday for selling its 100,000th ticket says the Netherlands Film Festival NFF.
