Dutch record-breaking television programme 'The voice of' has been sold to German broadcaster ProSieben, producer Talpa says.

The programme, produced by media mogul John de Mol, has 17 episodes. A Talpa spokesperson described the deal as extraordinary, saying Germany is the world’s third-biggest TV producer.

Talpa would not comment on the price of the transaction but speculated that the programme's production costs alone amounted to more than six million euros.

Last year, Talpa sold its talent hunt to the United States. NBC will air the first episode of “The voice of America” on 26 April. The programme’s jury will include Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine of Maroon 5.
