The move will allow the police officers to film suspicious characters or situations and send them on to fellow colleagues for help.

ROTTERDAM – Police officers in Rotterdam are to be given mobile phones with cameras so they can film suspicious individuals or situations. They will be able to send the recordings to colleagues who can in turn respond to such requests for help more quickly.

The move is part of a trial currently being undertaken by 700 officers. The Rotterdam-Rijnmond police force hopes it will result in more arrests. At present, police officers can only send text messages to each other.
