The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam IDFA has drawn a record 200,000 visitors, 20,000 more than last year.

The number of spectators has grown, the organisers say, because the festival was able to offer more screens and seats this year. It was the 24th time the event has been held. This year IDFA also invited a record 2,486 film makers. The official programme included over 300 titles, 88 of which had their world premiere at the festival.

On Friday evening, Crown-Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima attended the premiere of the Dutch documentary The Sound of the Bandoneón by Jiska Rickels. The 11-day festival is ending later today.
