A cargo of 10,000 Playstations 3 manufactured by Japanese company Sony, which was seized in a Dutch port on the orders of a court, has been released.

The cargo was seized at the end of February after a complaint by Sony's rival Korean manufacturers LG electronics.

The two companies dispute patent rights for a technical component of the Playstation 3, the latest generation of the well-known game computer. LG has been ordered to pay legal costs amounting to 130,000 euros. But LG has not dropped the case and will present its evidence against Sony in the patent dispute on 18 November.

The Netherlands is one of manufacturer Sony's main import countries in Europe.
