Heineken introduces "Charli"

29 August 2007

AMSTERDAM - Brewer Heineken is bringing out a new drink, specially targeting women. The drink made from cider, barley malt and sparkling water has an alcohol percentage of 5 percent.
The new drink, called "Charli", is "the perfect alternative to beer and wine," Heineken says. Charli is specially concocted for those who don't like beer, and who don't entirely trust the quality of wine, Heineken said.

The brewery will first be testing the drink until the end of October in 17 cafes in Deventer and Amsterdam. Heineken hopes to introduce "Charli" nationwide for the summer of 2008.

Starting Friday the drink will be available both on tap and in bottles, the brewery announced on Tuesday. On Wednesday the company will present its half yearly figures.
