Growing demand for sustainable power in Netherlands

Grid operator TenneT reports both growing production of and demand for sustainable power.

A growing number of people put solar panels on their roof to produce their own power. More than 11,000 production units had been registered by the end of 2011, an increase of 36 percent compared to the year before.

Certiq, the TenneT subsidiary which issues the certificates for sustainable power produced by solar panels, wind farms and power stations burning biomass, reports that the number of certificates issued in 2011 was 11.1 million, compared to 10.7 million in 2010.

Data published earlier showed that a growing number of Dutch households and businesses are changing over to sustainable power.
