Fleming wins Great Dutch Dictation again

This is the second consecutive year that a Fleming had won the annual televised Great Dictation of the Dutch Language.

THE NETHERLANDS – This year's annual televised Great Dictation of the Dutch Language has once again been won by a Fleming.

The winner is a lawyer from Brussels who made eight mistakes. The text entitled Heartache, was written by Flemish author Kristien Hemmerechts, and was about a pilgrimage.

The average number of mistakes made by contestants was 34. This is the second lowest ranking scores since the programme was first introduced in 1990. The worst average score was in 2000 where participants made 37 mistakes.

The televised national dictation test was aired on Wednesday and attracted over one million viewers.
