ROTTERDAM - Rotterdam football team Feyenoord is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and decided to hold a jubilee tournament to celebrate.

However, things didn't turn out too well for the birthday club who embarrassed themselves in front of the home crowd by ending up in last place in their own tournament.

Feyenoord had invited three teams:  Glasgow Celtic, who it beat in the final of the 1970 European Champions League Cup; Tottenham Hotspur who were runners-up to Feyenoord in the UEFA Cup in 1974 and Borussia Dortmund, defeated by the Rotterdam club in the UEFA Cup in 2002.

Feyenoord may have a glorious past but at the moment they are having financial problems and for this pre-season tournament they were missing a lot of regulars.

Roy Makaay and Jonathan de Guzman are part of the Dutch Olympic team and Kevin Hofland, Theo Lucius, Andwélé Slory, Jon Dahl Tomasson and Karim El Ahmadi are all injured.

The tournament was won by Tottenham Hotspur with a 3-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Sunday. Darren Bent, Giovani dos Santos and Jamie O'Hara were the scorers. Celtic disposed of hosts Feyenoord on Sunday evening with a well deserved 3-1. On Friday Spurs beat Celtic 2-0 and Dortmund beat Feyenoord 2-1.
