THE NETHERLANDS - The transport sector sees little new in government plans to tackle traffic jams.

Transports umbrella organisations EVO and TLN want more money to be spent on roads as they predict congestion problems will worsen. The Royal Netherlands Transport organisation calls the government plans a missed opportunity.

Employers' organisation VNO NCW wants projects to be carried out more quickly. The organisation thinks plans to construct four-lane carriageways in both directions on all important roads by 2028 should be brought forward to 2020.

Motoring organisation ANWB, one of the founders of the platform Accessible Netherlands, is satisfied. Their idea to separate local traffic from long-distance traffic has been adopted.

The government also wants to make working from home fiscally more attractive.
