Beckham's former PA writes book

Rebecca Loos, the woman who claimed she had an affair with soccer star David Beckham, is writing her autobiography. "It will be a sort of Bridget Jones story but about a successful life," Beckham's former personal assistant said on Thursday. The daughter of a Dutch diplomat and an English mother, Loos claimed that she became an "alternative wife" to Beckham after his move to Real Madrid. This has never been proven or confirmed by the footballer. Loos, a self-proclaimed bi-sexual, appeared in the Dutch edition of Playboy in January this year.

Pregnant asylum seeker freed from custody

A heavily pregnant asylum seeker from Kazakhstan has been returned to her family in Belgium, the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) told a court on Thursday. She was arrested in the Dutch city of Maastricht on 8 March.

Massive fire on moor

Fire officers from the Dutch towns of Venray, Bergen and Gennep were called in to battle a massive blaze on the Mooker moors in North Limburg on Thursday. Additional water had to be brought in to stem the fire. The authorities said there was no danger to buildings in the general area.

Tuesday is work day in Netherlands

Dutch employees are at their most productive on Tuesdays, while workers in other countries get more done on Mondays, according to research by US company Robert Half. The study covered 1,765 personnel and financial directors in 11 countries. It transpired Dutch offices hold a lot of meetings on Monday. The tasks agreed at these meetings are out into action on Tuesday.
