BANGKOK – More than 200 Dutch nationals stranded in the Thai capital Bangkok have reported to the Dutch embassy. The embassy is advising those who have not to follow suit. It is not yet clear when they will be able to leave the country.

Thousands of anti-government protesters are still occupying the capital's two main airports. Bangkok's main airport is to be closed until Saturday while the older Don Muang airport is expected to open on Friday.

The Thai authorities say they will compensate stranded tourists with EUR 40 per day. Dutch tourists affected by the protests can also claim compensation from a Dutch calamity fund.
