House prices rose by an average 2.2 percent in October, compared with a year ago, the national statistics office CBS said on Friday.

The rise is slightly up on September and marks six months of slow improvement, the CBS said.

Nevertheless, house prices are still 19 percent down on their 2008 peak.

The number of sales rose 45 percent last month, compared with October 2013 and are up 39 percent so far this year.
