Dutch workers of foreign origin saying they were too sick to travel back from their holiday locations should expect checks on their claims.

THE NETHERLANDS - Dutch workers of foreign origin who report sick from their holiday location can soon expect a visit from an inspector coming to check their claim.

One of the biggest Dutch companies responsible for carrying out such checks, the VCC Group, says some individuals add days to a holiday with the aid of a false doctor's report stating that they are too ill to travel. It turns out the illness was, for example, no more serious than an attack of diarrhoea.

The VCC Group is one of the largest organisations of its kind in the Netherlands and works for health and safety executives, councils, large companies and reintegration agencies.

It says it intends to focus its initial activities by setting up inspection networks in Turkey and Morocco.
