The Netherlands reports its first swine flu victim who has not visited Mexico Tuesday.

The Netherlands – A fourth Dutch patient has been diagnosed with swine flu, the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) announced Tuesday.

The 25-year-old woman who contracted the H1N1 virus when she was on a trip to New York is the first Dutch national to contract the H1N1 virus outside of Mexico.

She returned to the Netherlands on 30 May after changing flights in London.

The British authorities have been notified and are working to track down the woman’s fellow passengers.

The RIVM will not be taking additional measures for passengers on the flight from London to Amsterdam, since the risk of infection on such a short flight is low. People in close contact with the victim are being pre-emptively treated.

The RIVM said it expects further cases of swine flu as more people return from their holidays.
