Closing argument in Wilders trial

Geert Wilders’ lawyer Bram Moszkowicz is to hold his closing argument in the Wilders trial in Amsterdam on Monday at 1400 local time.

The laywer wanted to hold his closing argument at a later date, but the court rejected his request. The court has ordered Mr Moszkowicz to wrap up his argument on Monday, even if this means continuing the session until late at night.

Geert Wilders is on trial for incitement to hatred against Muslims. Mr Moszkowicz’s plea, to be followed by any remarks Mr Wilders himself would like to make, will form the closing chapter of a erratic trial, which should have ended in October last year. However, Mr Moszkowicz recused the judges, who were eventually replaced by three others. It also meant the trial had to start all over again.

Last week, the Public Prosecutors Office asked the court to acquit Mr Wilders.
