AMSTERDAM — A Dutchman has been jailed for stalking Mel C.
The 39-year-old man from the Dutch city of Utrecht, who believed he was in a relationship with the ex-Spice Girl, received a nine-month sentence, but six months was suspended.
The Arnhem Court heard the man, identified as A. A., sent Mel C dozens of letters, parcels and cassette tapes in 2001.
Mel C felt so frightened by his actions she changed the locks on the doors to her home and even moved to a safe-house in the north of England, newspaper De Telegraaf reported.
Her stalker was eventually arrested by Dutch police as he was posting her another package.
