'Herencia Herencia' is the result of a unique collaboration between the flamenco choir Calle Real and the classical string ensemble La Tempesta.  In this original series of five concerts, we introduce the audience in an engaging and entertaining way to the impact that flamenco has had on classical music. How did classical composers through history use the various style patterns of flamenco as a point of departure for their compositions?

Calle Real and La Tempesta will perform both separately and combined.  The fandango, an important form of flamenco, typical for its virtuoso guitar sounds and unpolished song, takes central stage.  Calle Real gives its own interpretation of the fandangos that are still performed in theaters and folk fests in the far corners of Andalusia, while La Tempesta examines how this style of music found its way into the classical tradition.  The concerts are an invitation for flamenco lovers to put the music they love in a new perspective, and for classical music fans to go on a musical journey through the villages and hills of southern Spain.

'Herencia' is the Spanish translation for heritage. This unique program has been inspired by the heritages of both classical and flamenco music – hence, Herencia twice!
