My husband (british citizen) inherited a sum of money in the uk. We are living in the Netherlands and want to transfer the money to our Dutch bank account. We did transfer a small amount of money but did not get the best currency rate. What would be your advice for the remainder of the sum? Thanks and kind regards

I moved from Holland when I was 6. I was born in Holland. I am now 33 and plan to move back to Holland in 3 years time. If I saved for a deposit for a house in Holland to buy can I move to Holland and get a mortgage? Or do I need to live there first for 5 years before I can get a mortgage?

My husband and I have just moved back to NL. He is Dutch/American and I'm American. We have a Dutch bank account. We moved back to the US to take care of my parents. They passed away and now we need to move some money from US back to NL. What is the safest and most cost effective method?

I am about to inherit a sum of money from my deceased aunt in the Netherlands. I live in the UK now. I am Dutch also and have wondered if I could open a Dutch Bank Account from the UK so I could put the money there in the hope that at some point the exchange rate will suit me better. Another worry is the high bank charges for transfers of money. What seems to be the best way to protect my money?

I will have about $40,000.00 to move from Dallas TX to The Netherlands this summer. What is the most cost effective way in the face of my Chase bank account (checking) currency exchange rate, which does not reflect the actual exchange? Thank you for your time.

Hi Charles-

I'm going to be in Amsterdam for two months starting this week. I have a couple American-based credit cards and a couple American-based bank accounts.
For my short stay (which may extend at some point), what do you recommend in terms of cash resources?
What banks/ATMs have the lowest fees? Should I get travelers cheques to cash in? Maybe even open a local checking account?

Thanks for your help!
