Transversal Translational Medicine – Portfolio Coordinator – RK1222 The Department of Transversal Translational Medicine (TTM) of the Luxembourg Institute of Health aims to foster biomedical and healthcare technology programmes by facilitating the ability of public and private stakeholders to work translationally, fostering national and international bed-to-bench-to-bed collaborations and thereby acting as a bridge from fundamental over clinical research into the real-world healthcare experience in integrated care networks. It overlooks translational biomedical programmes across different diseases creating impact for patients and citizens, like the National Centre for Excellence in Research on Parkinson’s Disease (NCER-PD, CON-VINCE ( as well as innovative clinical trials. The Transversal Translational Medicine Portfolio Coordinator will be a core member of the Transversal Translational Medicine leadership team. S/he will work closely with the Research and Strategy Specialist to give scientific advice, provide operational strategy and expertise to support translational, collaborative and multidisciplinary projects for fostering personalized medicine in the Luxembourgish ecosystem and in collaboration with international partners. Her/his role is to: Provide support and contribute to the operational and scientific strategy of the Transversal Translational Medicine (TTM) / Be involved in programme development: together with the Director, and TTM’s Research and Strategy Specialist, anticipate, identify, respond to, and shape internal and external collaborative opportunities. Focus on interdisciplinary and translational research; leverage local, national and international contacts to projects and initiatives with major strategic impact / Be a key link across TTM activities connecting the internal and external stakeholders to progress with the implementation of the translational strategy at LIH and in Luxembourg / Be involved in the establishment, writing and coordination of large projects and stakeholder management within consortia / Prepare portfolios for legal and financial dossiers of TTM, to establish collaborative research efforts nationally and internationally / Be involved in the budget planning and management working closely with the Director and the Research and Strategy Specialist to successfully acquire third party funding and ensure financial sustainability and budget oversight together with financial controllers at the LIH. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Support the Director and the Research and Strategy Specialist of TTM in coordinating the operational aspects, execution and monitoring of translational projects and thereby supporting the scientific development. Assist in the writing, implementation and coordination of the scientific strategy. Assist the Director of TTM and Research and Strategy Specialist in developing the operational strategy for translational medicine programmes Support the Director and Research and Strategy Specialist by leading organizational meetings, managing the administrative follow-up. Connecting the activities across different research projects and initiatives of TTM with the different units and departments at LIH as well as with other collaborating partners in Luxembourg and abroad. Contribute to organization of TTM events (e.g. workshops, conferences, lectures) Contribute to TTM’s branding: presentation to potential partners, liaising and interacting with members of other research and medical institutions. Participate in the societal dimension: dissemination of simplified research results to the general public (through articles, etc.). Be involved in the establishment, writing and coordination of large projects and stakeholder management. KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Doctorate of science (PhD). At least 5 years of experience in scientific/biomedical project management. Rigour, motivation, creativity and originality, writing skills, conciseness, sense of priority and ability to work with others. Good knowledge of ethical and GDPR compliance in research projects. Experience in the submission of ethical approval is considered an asset. Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills supported by good IT skills. Extremely good interpersonal, motivational, networking and negotiation/influencing skills. Project management and organisational skills, good decision-making skills. Ability to establish and maintain a network of personal working relationships with senior decision makers within and across universities, across regional and national agencies and with national and international funding agencies. Excellent interpersonal skills. Languages skills: fluent command of English, knowledge of another working language in Luxembourg (French, German, Luxembourgish) is an asset.
