Patrick Bruel marries 24-year-old

PARIS, Sept 21 (AFP) – Veteran French singer and actor Patrick Bruel married his long-time girlfriend and mother of his one-year-old son Oscar in a Paris ceremony Tuesday, professional acquaintances of the entertainer said.  

Bruel, 45, tied the knot with Amanda Maruani, 24, whom he met at Saint-Tropez in 2001, at the local mayor’s office in the capital’s Latin Quarter. It was the first time either had been married.  

Maruani, who recently wrote an autobiography titled “My Place in the Photo”, gave birth to the couple’s son in August last year.  

Bruel – born Patrick Maurice Benguigui in Algeria – is famous in France for a long musical and cinema career dating back to his teens.  

Another celebrity couple, 61-year-old singer Johnny Hallyday and his 29-year-old wife Laetitia, attended the wedding.
