Paedophilia swoop in missing girl hunt

PARIS, Dec 16 (AFP) – French police conducted their largest ever series of raids on paedophile suspects early Tuesday as part of their investigation into the disappearance of a nine year-old girl near Paris at the start of the year.

A total of 83 addresses were targetted across the country, and by late morning some 70 people were being questioned in custody concerning their whereabouts on January 9 – the day that Estelle Mouzin was last seen.

Police said 450 officers took part in the raids, including around 40 computer experts.

Detainees were to give saliva samples for DNA tests, and their homes were being extensively searched, police said.

Estelle was on her way home from school in the eastern Paris suburb of Guermantes – not far from Disneyland Paris – when she disappeared, and there has been no trace of her since despite a massive police operation to find her.

Leaflets bearing her photograph are on display in stations, supermarkets and post-offices across the country, and in June police issued a identikit picture of a man they wish to interview.
