Ciboure - A small bomb exploded outside a bank in France's southwestern Basque region on Sunday, damaging a window but causing no injuries, police said.

No one claimed responsibility for the attack against the Credit Mutuel branch in the early hours of Sunday, a police source said.

Firefighters received a call shortly before the bombing regarding street trash bins that were set on fire near the bank.

A Basque separatist group, Irrintzi, has claimed responsibility in recent months for attacks against tourism interests and real estate agencies in the French Basque region.

In Spain, the armed separatist group ETA is blamed for the deaths of 828 people in its campaign for a Basque nation straddling parts of southwestern France and northern Spain.
