French investigators will travel to Tripoli on Wednesday to take part in the probe of an Afriqiyah Airways plane crash that left more than 100 dead, the BEA air accident investigation agency said.

European plane-maker Airbus, which built the A330-200 that exploded on landing in Tripoli, will also dispatch experts as part of the French investigating team, the French-based firm said.

An eight-year-old Dutch boy was the sole survivor of the disaster involving the Afriqiyah plane, which was arriving from South Africa earlier Wednesday.

The Libyan airline listed 93 passengers and 11 crew members on board its Flight 8U771 from Johannesburg.

"The BEA will sent a team of technical investigators to Tripoli in the coming hours," said a BEA spokesman.

"Airbus will provide full technical assistance to the authorities responsible for the investigation into the accident through the BEA," the company said in a statement.
