French trade deficit widens 13 percent in October

Shortfall came to 35.220 billion euros

  PARIS, Dec 7, 2007 - The French trade deficit widened 13 percent in
October to 3.637 billion euros (5.3 billion dollars) from September, customs
authorities said Friday.
   The shortfall over the previous 12 months came to 35.220 billion euros.
   The finance ministry said that while falling back from reacnt peaks,
aerospace and mechanical equipment exports remained healthy in October.
   Auto industry sales abroad rose slightly while those of consumer goods
   French exports to the European Union declined but rose on US and Asian
