Qatari Prime Minister Abdallah ben Nasser Al-Thani will visit Paris next week to attend a security exhibition and meet French leaders, diplomats said on Wednesday.

Thani, arriving on Monday, will join French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve on Tuesday to launch Milipol, a showcase for equipment and knowhow about internal state security and terrorism, which alternates between Paris and Doha.

He will also lunch with his French counterpart, Manuel Valls.

France and gas-rich Qatar have close economic and military ties.

In May, Qatar signed a multi-billion-euro deal with French defence group Dassault to buy 24 Rafale fighter jets for 6.3 billion euros ($6.75 billion).
