European aircraft manufacturer Airbus received 328 net orders in the first nine months of the year, beating US rival Boeing, which received 288, figures from the two groups showed on Tuesday.

Airbus said 51 orders had been cancelled from January to September. Boeing had 73 cancellations in the period to September 28, according to the company website.

Airbus, a unit of European aerospace giant EADS, had delivered 380 planes by September 30, including 14 A380s, the world's biggest civilian airliner.

Boeing's delivery total to the end of September was not available. It had delivered 308 aircraft to clients by the end of August.
