Sustainability Coordinator

The objective of the Sustainability Coordinator is to facilitate the AMIEO Sustainability agenda across the organization, aligning with Corporate direction and global trends, ensuring Nissan’s goal to empower mobility, and to create social value for all stakeholders is achieved.

This will be accomplished by understanding the three pillars of Sustainability – Environmental, Social, and Governance – from a Corporate, regional, functional, and internal/external stakeholder point of view using data and intelligence, reporting and regulatory drivers, various committees, and Company objectives/KPIs.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Facilitate the Environmental, Social and Governance priorities defined by the management team which are linked to societal needs and business objectives
  • Be aware of trends, understand risks and opportunities, and help to maintain sustainability strategies and initiatives across AMEIO
  • Communicate with global counterparts in Environmental, Social and Governance functions to support implementation of new Corporate long-term sustainability programs
  • Support management to organize the regional Sustainability Steering Committee to meet regularly, delivering a value-added agenda to Committee members and participants
  • Assist other AMIEO forums in need of sustainability guidance and support

Additional tasks and responsibilities

  • Support operation of the AMIEO sustainability program management office covering all three sustainability dimensions – Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)
  • Help develop, implement, and maintain global sustainability programs such as the Nissan Green and Nissan Social Programs at a regional level
  • Support preparation of materials for global steering committees (e.g. Global Environmental and Global Sustainability Steering Committees)
  • Provide administrative support to the organization and operation the AMIEO Sustainability Steering Committee
  • Develop and maintain the AMIEO cross-functional and sub-regional repository for ESG-related goals and activities
  • Develop and maintain a mechanism for consolidating and reporting/visualizing various AMIEO sustainability objectives and KPIs
  • Act as Delegation of Authority single point of contact and coordinator for any sustainability related policies
  • Coordinate the tracking and reporting of regional donations as part of our corporate social responsibility
  • Support activities related to improving the communication and promotion of sustainability across the region, e.g., internal and external events, articles, portal development
  • Support activities related to conducting sustainability training across AMIEO

Required background, experience and education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a sustainability-related field of study (e.g. Environmental Sciences, Public Policy, Renewable Energy), Business, Law/Legal Affairs, Risk or Operations Management
  • 2-3 years of experience in the above at a large corporation (preferably in the automotive industry)

  • Ability to influence counterparts and management and adapt messages accordingly
  • Desire to work with international stakeholders
  • Willingness to present at various committee meetings, training sessions, etc
  • Ability to execute with rigor in a fast-paced environment
  • Remaining organized, managing multiple stakeholders with limited support and guidance
  • Strong command of English (speaking, writing)
  • Strong Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
  • Understanding and adhering to the highest level of confidentiality and behaving with integrity
