To ensure the success of Sanofi’s Global Business Units (GBU) Strategy Sanofi has created the roles of Head Digital Business Solutions Strategy & Delivery for the GBU’s Special Care, GenMed, and Vaccines, roles reporting to the Global Head of Digital GBUs’.

Summary of the Role

  • The Head of Digital Vaccines (Vx) is responsible for the overall digital strategy and delivery for the Sanofi’s Vaccines GBU
  • The digital business mission is to enable business growth and enable business transformation through best-in-class leading digital innovation and strong operational excellence that enable customers, and patients to have meaningful and positive interaction with sanofi medicines, products and services that contribute positively to company growth and results
  • Working hand in hand with the Vx GBU, she/he will define the global Vx Digital priorities, identify new digital opportunities that enable growth, prioritize the business unit wide digital initiatives, ensure consistency, and scalability across all digital initiatives, and act as a change catalyst as well as a digital business thought leader in the business unit leadership team
  • The incumbent will work closely with the business & medical teams, as well with the other core functions of the global digital team e.g., Data, Tech, Accelerator, BD & Strategy, Digital R&D, as well as BOS

​Key responsibilities

  • Accountable for the digital strategy based on business priorities and the rapidly changing ecosystem

  • Relentlessly focus on business growth objectives, customer, and patient’s needs, while aligned with the overall global Sanofi digital strategy
  • Unify GBU departmental plans into clear and coherent GBU digital strategy with defined positive impact outcomes
  • Fully integrate the digital strategy into GBU’s overall strategic-planning process
  • Proactive prioritization of initiatives against business unit strategy
  • Actively making sure that strategy is followed through with best-in-class execution and delivery of the of digital initiatives right down to market level with high consistency and with high priority to must win countries
  • Actively foster alignment and adherence to the global data architecture, modernization of data and analytic platforms, as well as the delivery of modern data solutions and adoption across the business perimeter
  • Ensure a coherent and consistent alignment of the relevant tools including e-commerce that will allow the company to effectively compete and drive incremental customer value
  • Establish or drive adoption of good practices that maximize value of digital assets, while minimizing risks
  • Actively monitor, identify, and bring out-side in insights / opportunities from the rapidly changing competitive landscape to shape strategy and adjust execution
  • Build actively digital talent and capabilities in the organization through a combination of developing current staff and attracting new talent

Strategy

  • Accountable to execute digital strategy and measure results with a Glocal mindset
  • Work with teams across the GBU and Sanofi to apply execution best-practices (both technical and empathetic) on innovative digital solutions for products, services, processes, and experiences
  • Jointly establish mechanisms to measure results, listen for lessons learned, resolve obstacles, and keep leadership appraised of metrics and value brought by digital efforts to patients, customers, regulators, and colleagues
  • Drive the agenda for the recurring Digital Business Tower meetings, an ExCom level strategy review and decision-making forum

Talent & People

  • Accountable to actively empower and develop people
  • Comprehensive team management, including goal setting, development plans, capability building, succession, and performance
  • Drive clarity on
  • roles of digital leadership within BU, ensuring remit and oversight of full digital portfolio
  • Create an environment of empathetic risk-taking and fast learning
  • Ensure availability and access to digital, innovation and technical training and development programs
  • Mobilize digital-champion network to support digital transformation
  • Nominate the teams for and celebrate when teams are recognized with internal and external professional awards

Partnerships

  • Accountable to derive innovation insights and opportunities by actively monitoring competitive landscape, establishing key partnerships, and foster a culture of benchmarking
  • Bring together relevant market and disruptor listening functions to more frequently and more thoroughly feed insights into and shape strategy and execution adjustments
  • Leverage GBU and enterprise partnerships to test and deploy solutions

Organization

  • Report directly to Sanofi Global Head of Digital GBU, member of Global Digital Executive Leadership Team (DSLT)
  • Report dotted line to Global Head of Vx GBU, member of the Executive Committee
  • The position is based in Lyon, France, and the role is part of the Global Vx GBU LT Team, as well as the Digital GBU LT


Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required. A master’s degree in Science, Engineering, or MBA degree is preferred
  • A minimum of 15 years of industry background and understanding is required for this position
  • Possesses a particularly strong business acumen, combined with strong understanding of digital
  • Diverse experience in different geographical and cultural settings are a plus
  • Seasoned leader with outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Proven record of creating and implementing successful digital initiatives
  • Successful management of large digital and technology initiatives
  • Successful at building a culture of performance and accountability
  • Proven record of developing people, capabilities, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrating a positive result orientation, problem solving attitude & a “getting things done” mentality
  • Able to work effectively in a matrixed, multi-cultural, global organization
  • Team player with great interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and confident demeanor
  • Ability to both “think big” and manage the details to ensure impactful execution
  • This position may require up to 20 – 30 % overall business travel to the core markets including North America, China, Europe, etc
  • Native Fluency in English is a must, French fluency a plus
