Hi Geoff,

Welcome to the forum.

French banks vary in their approach to what the maximum age should be for a prospective borrower. Generally speaking, loans are granted for a minimum of 5 years and maximum of 25 years, provided this does not take the client beyond 70 years of age.

Banks are usually unwilling to go beyond retirement age when granting mortgages. There may however be exceptions where loans are granted up to the age of 70 years if the client can demonstrate that they possess a good pension and/or investment income.

Ultimately, it all comes down to your income in terms of securing the loan. Please feel free to contact me direct for a more informed opinion.
